Kano State Government has given N25 million each to Community Re-orientation Committees (CRCs) in the 44 local government areas in the state to effect repairs on primary and secondary schools in their domains.
Alhaji Hashimu Dungurawa, Chairman of the ruling New Nigeria Peoples Party(NNPP) in the state, said this while highlighting the achievements of the NNPP-led government in the state in the last one year.
Dungurawa said the repairs to be carried out included fixing broken doors, gates and windows, re-painting and evacuation of sewage.
He said the initiative was part of the efforts of the administration to revamp primary and secondary school education, which he said had suffered neglect over the years.
He said the membership of the CRCs comprised village heads, Chief Imams, youth leaders, labour unions and members of opposition parties.
The chairman said the CRCs were sponsored by Yusuf administration as part of its efforts to ensure the development of all communities in the state.
He said the administration had been delivering on the mandate given to it by the people of the state by executing developmental projects in such sectors as education, health and agriculture.
He said the government allocated about 30 percent of its 2024 budget to education sector, which he described as unprecedented.
Dungurawa also said the government sponsored more than 1000 students from the state to pursue higher degrees in foreign universities.
He also said the administration had settled registration fees of about N1 billion for more than 700 students of the state studying in various universities in the country.
He said the gesture would be sustained till the students graduated. (NAN).
