The Kaduna State House of Assembly on Tuesday, confirmed 12 out of the 14 nominees submitted by Gov. Uba Sani to the lawmakers for confirmation as commissioners.
The plenary, presided by the Speaker of the House, Mr Yusuf Liman, began with the former speaker of the state’s 8th Assembly, Mr Aminu Shagali, who was asked to take a bow.
The other nominees were duly screened and cleared by the lawmakers.
These cleared and confirmed by the Assembly included Mr Umma Ahmed, Mr Mukhtar Ahmed, Dr Ibrahim Hamza, Mr Sule Shu’aibu, Ms Shizzer Bada, Prof. Muhammad Bello, and Mr Salisu Rabi.
Others are Prof. Benjamin Gugong, Mr Abubakar Bubba, Mr Sadiq Lagos, and Mr Murtala Dabo.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the two other nominees – Ms Patience Fakai and Mr Auwal Shugaba were absent during the screening.
Mr Marah Zachariah (Jaba State Constituency – PDP), Chairman House Committee on Information, told journalists after the plenary that the lawmakers were satisfied with the records of the nominees.
Zachariah, who described the nominees as “suitable for the job”, expressed confidence that they would be able to discharge their responsibilities as expected.
The House, thereafter, adjourned sitting to July 26 (NAN)
