Nigeria’s Super Falcons fell 2-0 in the first of the two friendly matches scheduled with world champions, Japan.
Playing before a capacity crowd at the Nagasaki Sports and Recreation Sports Club, the Japanese scored in the 36th minute through Yuki Ogimi and Kawasumi added a second goal in the 53rd minute.
Sasaki Norio called up a total of 41 players for the encounter and he hopes it would be an opportunity to assess the players he would be using when Japan gets its campaign underway at the Asian cup.
Super Falcons will depart Nagasaki Monday as both sides will meet again on Thursday at the Fukuda Denshi Arena in Chiba.
