Gov. Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi has assured the people of Ishiagu Community in Ivo Local Government Area of the completion of the Ishiagu Water Scheme (IWS) by November.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the Ishiagu Water Scheme project located close to Ivo River was started during the first tenure of former Gov. Dave Umahi.
Mr Moses Aja, the President-General of Ishiagu Community Development Union (ICDU), quoted the governor as giving the assurance when executives of the union and other leaders and stakeholders in the community paid him a courtesy visit on Saturday.
Briefing newsmen on Monday in Ishiagu, Aja said that the visit to Nwifuru was to commend his numerous achievements in both social infrastructure and human capital development in less than one year in office.
“The visit afforded the community an opportunity to express her profound gratitude to the governor for the many life-touching projects including human capital development he has carried out in less down one year in office.
“We also thanked His Excellency for appointing nine of our sons into his cabinet and for executing several infrastructural projects in Ishiagu.
“The governor has graciously approved and released a complete fund for the completion of Ivo Water Scheme with completion date fixed for November.
“The governor also approved the issuance of Certificate-of-Occupancy (C-of-O) for the newly acquired site for the Ishiagu Ultra Modern Market.
“It is gratifying to note that all the requests/prayers made to the governor including a request for the return of the Ishiagu Health Centre taken over by the state government to the community were all approved.
