Mr Wasiu Adesina, Chairman of Ikorodu Local Government (LG) on Friday presented official vehicles to two traditional rulers of Ikorodu for effective service delivery to the community
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the cars were presented to Oba Kabiru Shotobi, (The Ayangburen) and Oba Ahmed Ogunderu, (The Alagura of Agura 2), in Ikorodu.
The chairman presenting the cars said the vehicles would ease their movements, while attending different meetings inside and outside the community as custodian of tradition and custom.
Adesina explained that the traditional rulers play useful roles in mediating between the people and the state, enhancing national identity, resolving minor conflicts and providing an institutional safety-valve.
“The traditional rulers play significant roles as stakeholder in decision making and development of communities.
“The official vehicles will ease their movement and improve their service delivery to the people in their community,” he said.
The chairman urged the community members to key into the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu, for a better Nigeria and Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu for the projects he had delivered in the state and Ikorodu in particular.
He urged residents to vote for candidates of All Progressives Congress (APC) in the next Local Government Elections, for delivery of more democratic dividends to Ikorodu residents.
Receiving the car, Oba Ogunderu, Alagura of Agura 2, appreciated the council chairman for the gesture and promised to use the car for effective service delivery to the community.
Ogunderu commended the chairman on his achievements, especially on infrastructure and encouraged him to continue in his drive to ensure that Ikorodu enjoyed more dividends of democracy.
The oba, who prayed for Nigeria, Lagos State, the council boss and all the legislative members representing the division, urged them on good governance.(NAN)
