By Mohammed Yangida, Lafia Nasarawa state governor Umaru Al-makura Tuesday inaugurated the 5th Nasarawa State House of Assembly.
The Governor expressed optimism that the 5th Assembly will ensure good governance.
He congratulated the legislators on their election and urged them to reciprocate the gestures back to the people of their various constituencies.
Al-makura assured them of the cooperation of the Executive Arm, urging members to look forward to a robust and harmonious working relationship between the executive and the legislature.
He restated his administration’s commitment towards creating conducive working environment for the house members at all times.
The oath of allegiance and oath of office was administered by the clerk of the house and thereafter the nomination of the speaker through a motion moved by a member representing Lafia central, Abubakar Zanwa Imam and seconded by a PDP member Ibrahim Alkali representing Lafia North constituency.
The new speaker Ibrahim Balarabe in his address shortly after the swearing in expressed appreciation for the honour done to him by the members assured them that he would live up to expectation so that they can work as one family in order to move the state forward
The Assembly elected the former majority leader of the 4th Assembly Godiya Kawasaki as the deputy speaker.
