Afrobeats star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has revealed that he sought advice from fellow musicians Wizkid and Wande Coal when he was considering leaving school to pursue music fully.
Speaking in the Afrobeats Documentary, the singer recalled asking both artistes how they managed to leave school and concentrate on their music careers.
According to Davido, Wizkid and Wande Coal told him that becoming successful in music was the key to being able to leave school and focus entirely on the profession.
“I asked Wizkid and Wande Coal how they left school to do music.
“They told me the only way was to blow up. I knew my dad wouldn’t allow me, but when ‘Dami Duro’ blew up, I couldn’t continue,” he said.
Davido said he was aware that his father would not support his decision to abandon his education for music. However, the success of his hit song, ‘Dami Duro’, changed the situation and made it difficult for him to continue with his studies at the time.
