President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Ibrahim Gusau is optimistic the Super Eagles will earn a berth at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The Super Eagles occupy fifth position in their World Cup qualifying group with three points from four games.
Despite the team’s unimpressive run in the qualifiers, Gusau is adamant they will pick the ticket to the mundial.
“I have much confidence that we will qualify for the next World Cup in 2026,” he stated at the annual general meeting of the NFF.
“I know we have had a bad start, three points in four matches, but we have made progress by the momentum now gathered by the Super Eagles.
“Going forward, all the players now know what is at stake and we will surely support the team.”
Gusau also promised to deliver a fourth Africa Cup of Nations trophy for the country after the Super Eagles narrowly missed out on the top prize earlier this year.
“We are on course to winning our fourth AFCON in Morocco, that will be our breakthrough,” he added.
