Nigeria’s Yinka Ajayi on Tuesday qualified for the final of the women’s 400 metres in athletics at the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games.
Competing in the second semi-final, the 20-year-old Ajayi finished second with a time of 51.81 secs.
Maximila Imali from Kenya finished first after returning a time of 51.52 secs.
The six other athletes who also made it into the final were Jamaican duo Stephenie McPherson and Anastasia Le-Roy. Other qualifiers were Amantle Montsho and Christine Botlogetswe from Botswana.
Others were home girl Anneliese Rubie of Australia and India’s Hima Das.
The 400 metres final comes up on Wednesday.
Ajayi won gold for Nigeria in the 4X400 m relay at the 2015 African Junior Championship in Addis Ababa,
