The General Officer Commanding, (GOC) 1 Division Nigerian Army Kaduna, Maj. Gen. Farouk Yahaya, has tasked students of Senior Course 42 of the Armed Forces Command and Staff College (AFCSC) Jaji, to be innovative and come up with ideas that would take the military to greater heights.Yahaya gave the charge while addressing the AFCSC students who visited the Division on a study tour. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the tour took place on Monday and involved 200 students from Nigeria, Ghana, Sierra Leone, Liberia, Gambia, Senegal Niger, Chad and South Africa. It was aimed at broadening the students’ knowledge on the organization and roles of a typical Infantry Division in the Nigerian Army.Yahaya observed that as middle level senior military officers, the students would be given enormous responsibilities after the course, as such they must live up to expectations.“Military job revolves round majors which is the rank you are all wearing now. That is why if you do badly on any assignment given to you, it will be given to somebody else who can do it better.“I know you are going to do some research . This is the time to become what you want to be in the course of your career,” the GOC admonished the course participants.Earlier, the Director Land Warfare of the college, Brig-Gen Abdulrahman Kuliya who led the students and other staff, said they were at the Division to acquaint themselves with its roles, outside what the students were taught in class.According to him, the knowledge and experience garnered during the tour will be of immense benefit to the participants wherever they find themselves in the course of their duties.During the tour, the students were treated to static display of weapons and equipments by units, formations and departments under the Army 1 Division.
