Galatasaray manager Okan Buruk has admitted that Victor Osimhen’s absence was felt during his side’s hard-fought 1-0 victory over Kocaelispor, Prompt News Online reports.
The Yellow and Reds secured a narrow win in a closely contested encounter, with defender Abdulkerim Bardakci scoring the only goal of the game 19 minutes from the end.
Osimhen missed his second consecutive match for Galatasaray after suffering an injury in the club’s 3-2 victory over Istanbul Başakşehir on September 4.
Buruk acknowledged the significant impact the Nigeria international has on the team, both on the pitch and psychologically.
“Having Osimhen is a strength, not just in terms of the player, but also psychologically, just being on the field. Playing with him is a different experience,” Buruk told the club’s official website.
“We miss Osimhen. We played with a lot of pressure, but it’s very important to always have a clinical striker. I was also pleased with Deniz’s performance.”
Galatasaray will face another challenging fixture this weekend when they travel to play Trabzonspor.
