The Jigawa State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps disclosed this in a statement issued by its Public Relations Officer, ASC Badruddeen Tijjani Mahmud, on Thursday.
According to the NSCDC, the boat was travelling from Kwadige Village to Chai Chai Sabuwa Market when it overturned while crossing the pond.
Preliminary findings indicated that strong winds might have contributed to the accident.

The deceased were identified as Hasiya Mu’azu, 13; Hauwa Lawan, 13; Fatima Lawan, 12; and Dawsiyya Lawan, 13.
The NSCDC said farmers working close to the pond rescued the four survivors shortly after the boat capsized, with residents of Kwadige and Kuna villages also joining the rescue and recovery efforts.
The bodies of the four victims were subsequently buried in accordance with Islamic rites.
The Jigawa State NSCDC Commandant, CC Muhammad Kabiru Ingawa, expressed condolences to the families of the deceased and the people of Kwadige over the tragedy.
Ingawa urged boat operators and passengers to exercise caution while travelling on waterways, particularly during periods of strong winds and adverse weather conditions.
