Nigerian Muslims have been enjoined to sustain the lessons learnt during the holy month of Ramadan 1444 A.H through the remaining eleven months.
Dr. Abdul-Fatai Abdul-Azeez Aranni, Chief Imam of Forestry Muslim Community (Forestry Research Institute of Nigeria), Ibadan, gave the advice while delivering the 10th Ramadan lecture of Opere Community Mosque, Ologuneru, Ibadan, on Sunday, April 8, 2023.
Speaking on the topic, “What Next After Ramadan ”, Ustaz Abdul-Azeez Aranni, spoke extensively on the benefits of fasting during the Holy Month of Ramadan, saying muslim ummah must be able to rededicate their lives to the cause of Allah.
According to him, fasting during Ramadan presents ample opportunity to Muslims to be closer to Allah by moving away from sins like drinking alcohol, Adultery among other vices.
The FMC Imam also noted that muslims tend to engage in good deeds, especially giving Sadaqah during Ramadan fasting, positing that such should be sustained after Ramadan.
He added that all muslims must look out for ‘Lailatul Qadr’ (Night of Majesty) during which they can seek forgiveness and blessings here on earth and the hereafter.
Ustaz Aranni said that muslims are encouraged to recite Quran often during the month, noting also that such should continue after fasting.
The lecturer said, Ramadan refines our character and trains us for the remaining 11 months, saying we must continue to reflect on this.
He admonished Muslims not to go back to sins after fasting, adding that we must continue to be patient, give charity and also fast either on Monday or Thursday and other fasting that are not compulsory but allow us to be closer to God and move away from sins.
Imam said the health benefits of Ramadan cannot be quantified as it helps to detoxify our system.
Earlier in his welcome address, the chairman of the occasion and Aare Musulumi of Ologuneru and its Environs, Alhaji Ishaq Gbolagade Awujoola, had expressed gratitude to members of Opere Community Mosque under the Imam, Ustaz Abdul-Lateef Abiola Robiu for show of love and steadfastness in the last 10 years that annual Ramadan lecture started.
