The 2024 Zenith Bank Women’s Basketball National Final 8 got underway in Lagos on Thursday as Customs Basketball Club of Abuja defeated Dolphins Basketball Club of Lagos, 74-62.
It was Dolphins who rose to an early lead in the first quarter of the game, recording a 21-20 points lead following some brilliant display from the team.
However, they were made to work harder in the second quarter as Customs came out firing from all cylinders and dominated ball play, taking the second quarter, 40-38.
Customs forward player Nkem Akaraiwe’s brilliance also gave their opponents so much of problems as she was unstoppable in the arch.
Her aggressive ball play and intelligence was too hot for Dolphins to handle, and she helped her team to a ten point lead at the close of the third quarter.
Customs would hold on to their lead to coast home their win in spite of Dolphins’ energetic displays and and good team work.
