From Nigeria’s Sports and Youth Development minister, Solomon Dalung, comes praises for both the Super Falcons and pioneers of women’s football for placing the country in the global map.
Speaking earlier today at the unveiling of France 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup Trophy at his office at the Boardroom of the Abuja National Stadium, Dalung
commended the past and present Super Falcons team for consistently flying the flag of the country at continental and world women’s football stage.
The minister who was represented at brief event by the Acting Permanent Secretary of Sports and Youth Development ministry, Mrs. Hauwa Kulu- Akinyemi restated the Nigeria’s government commitment to the promotion of sports in general and football in particular.
According to him women’s football has brought glory to the country, pointing out that the Super Falcons have qualified for every FIFA Women’s World Cup final, a feat only six other countries in the world have achieved. He also commended the Falconets and Flamingos for making the nation proud.
Dalung however believe that Falcons will do well in France while he singled out the pioneers of women’s football in Nigeria for praises. He gave kudos to club owners like Princess Hannah Bola Jegede, Christopher Abisuga, Elder Bola Kuejunbola, Hon. Ayo Omidiran, Late Simbiat Abiola and Prince Larry Ezeh among others.
The FIFA Women’s World Cup Trophy Tour anchored in Nigeria yesterday and will be on display at Transcorp Hilton hotel Abuja for two days.
