By Gracious Akujobi Head Coach of the national U-17 female team, Flamingoes, Bala Nkiyu has said the team was ready to go to the world stage to fight for glory in the FIFA U-17 World Cup scheduled to hold in Costa Rica from March 15 to April 4.
With the World Cup a little over a month to go, Nkiyu believes that the quality friendly matches which his girls have played and the training which they are about to embark on will stand them in good stead for a good outing at the World Cup.
He said: “Although no team can beat it chest that they will win the tourney until last whistle of the last game but as far as Nigeria is concern we have a world cup team and we fully ready for the World.
“This team is just one month old and I promise you that this team will improve before competition kick off in March”.
Nkiyu however note that the only challenge the technical crew may was general slow assimilation of female footballers, adding that their learning process is far below that of their male counterpart.
He but promised that they will do all within their limited time to impact on the girls.
Flamingoes have so far played four quality friendly matches,3 with Nigeria women premier league side and one International friendly with Ghana U-17 female team.
They beat Nasarawa Amazon 2-1, lost 3-1 to Rivers Angels,drew 1-1 with Delta Queens and beat Black Maidens of Ghana 3-0.
