I know everyone is watching on television right now and I know that world leaders are watching too. So I call on the world leaders to end the war. Let everyone dialogue. End the war. Let us enjoy the World Cup Qatar 2022.
With these words, President of the Federation of International Football Association (FIFA), Gianni Infantino called on Russia President Vladimir Putin and his Ukraine opponent, Volodmir Zelensky to quickly end the on-going war between the two Eastern Europe nations.
Infantino made this statement while declaring open the Qatar 2022 Draw in Doha on Friday evening.
He said the world will witness the best FIFA World Cup final ever, adding that the 32-nation football fiesta will bring the world togather for the celebration of friendship hence the need for peace to reign in the world.
The FIFA boss however praised the Emir of Qatar for the wonderful job the Arab country has been doing to ensure that the World Cup in country will be a wonderful experience.
Meanwhile, two Nigerian icons, music superstar David Adeleke aka Davido and football star, Augustine Jay Jay Okocha were on the show during the Draw Ceremony.
While Davido featured in the musical performance which kick-started the event, Okocha with other former world football stars would help in the Draw proper.
