Vice President Mohammed Namadi Sambo has stated the federal government’s resolve to hasten the completion of all dualised road projects across the country.
The Vice President made the disclosure today while on a visit to the palace of the emir of Katagun in Azare, Bauchi State, to pay his homage.
Sambo, who was responding to a call made by the emirate on the federal government to complete the dualization of the Kano Maiduguri road disclosed that the major priority of the Federal government on road projects was the completion of all dualised road projects across the country. He further stated that in order to hasten the completion of these projects, the Federal Government was committing part of the SURE-P funds to ensure that that there were adequate funds for the projects.
Also, he informed the emirate on the progress made by the federal government in the Kafin Zaki Dam project, as approval has been given by the President for the implementation of the project and
that the federal government was working assiduously towards its realization.
Earlier in his remarks, the Emir of Katagum HRH Muhammad Kabir Umar, who spoke through the Waziri of Katagum, Sule Katagum, expressed the gratitude of the emirate for the visit especially as it covers key
human development areas like agriculture, education, healthcare and other infrastructural development.
The Emir, used the opportunity to call on the federal government to hasten the execution of the Kafin Zaki Dam as all the environmental and technical issues concerning the project had been resolved and the contract has been awarded. He added that when completed, the project would be the largest dam project in the country, and that the dam would have the capacity to irrigate about one thousand hectares of land, create large-scale employment, provide food and cash crops as well as fisheries and other economic activities to the people.
The Emir also appealed to the federal government to hasten the completion of the dualised Kano-Maiduguri road as a large portion of the road cut across the Katagum as well Jama’are emirates in Bauchi State.
