The Federal Government has so far paid N192.5 billion to oil marketers in 2013 as subsidy claims, the Minister of Finance, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala announced on Monday.
The verified payments comprises of outstanding claims of N135.6 billion in 2012 and N56.8 billion as at June this year.
According to the Special Assistant to the Minister, Paul Nwabuiku, the payments were made based on bathes of claims submitted by the Petroleum Pricing Regulatory Agency (PPPRA).
“In line with the continued commitment of the Federal Ministry of Finance to manage fuel subsidy payments in a transparent and efficient manner that protects and enhances the interests of the Nigerian people, below is a list which details the current status of payments in respect of 2013 verified claims by marketers as at June 10, 2013.
“In addition, earlier in the year, a total of N135, 696,269,214.05 was paid to Oil Marketers in respect of verified 2011 and 2012 arrears. Thus, the total amount paid to Oil Marketers so far in 2013 is N192, 502,279,966.50, Nwabuiku said..
The companies that benefited from the claims are Aiteo Energy Resources Ltd, Ascon Oil Comapny Ltd, A-Z Petroleum Products Ltd, Bovas and Company, Folawiyo Energy Ltd, Forte Oil Plc, Gulf Treasures Ltd, Integrated Oil & Gas Ltd, Masters Energy Ltd, Mobil Oil Plc, NIPCO plc and northwest Petroleum & Gas Ltd.
Others are: Rahamaniyya Oil & gas Ltd, Sahara Energy Ltd, Swift Oil Ltd, Shorelink Oil & Gas Ltd, Techno Oil. Ltd and Total Nig Plc.
