By Gracious Akujobi The Federal Capital Territory administration has disbanded FCT Queens football club.
According to a letter made available to newsmen and signed by Secretary for Social Development, Blessing Onuh, the administration considered the disbandment of the team as the best option.
Until recently, the FCT administration owed the players several months’ salaries and allowances.
The letter also stated that the decision was necessitated by the need to put in place a world class female football team befitting of the Capital City.
Onuh said it was difficult to run the club as the team they inherited was plagued with series of financial and professional problems, and gross under performance on the field of play.
She quoted the Minister of State for FCT, Olajumoke Akinjide, who supervises sports in the territory as assuring sports loving-residents that a new FCT Queens FC would be put in place with a management board that will run its activities better, as well as register the club with Corporate Affairs Commission to attract sponsorship and endorsement .
Akinjide thanked the players, coaches and the entire staff for their service and wished them well in their future endeavour.
