Coalition of Youth Groups in Lafia Local Government Area has called on Youths in Nasarawa state to shun the ongoing #EndSARS and #EndSWAT protests taking place in some parts of the country.

The coalition, comprising of Youth Assembly of Nigeria (YAN), Nigerian Youth Congress (NYC) among others described the protests as baseless, unthinkable and ill-conceived.

Chairman of the Coalition, Comrade Ahmad Usman Yarwa, Speaker, Youth Assembly of Nigeria (YAN) local government council, stated this during a press briefing in Lafia, today.

Yarwa who claimed that the protest is doctored by some mischief making individuals with deceptive mechanism luring youths into preposterous agitation, said that no right thinking individual will persist on protesting when the government is responsive to the demands of the people.

“Knowing that the allegedly paid protesters have a 10- point demands which have almost been taken care of by the Nigeria Police Force, Federal and State Governments including other very critical stakeholders, it is ridiculous and prepossessing for any group to come out or join whatever protests under such a nomenclature and fruitless idea of conceptualization,” he said.

The Youth Speaker reiterated that no member of the coalition will partake in any form of anti-SWAT protest in the state, while urging those rumored to be making arrangements to hold the #EndSWAT protest in the state to sheath their swords and allow the government to take actions on the demands raised.

“At this point, the leadership, members and the entire rank and file of our coalition would like to put the point straight that it is not in any way in support of any planned #EndSARS protests being organized to take place in Lafia,”he said.

He charged youths in the 13 local government areas of the state to continue to be supportive to the government at all levels and law abiding, as he called on the general public to remain calm, responsible and continue with its lawful activities.
