Arsenal manager Unai Emery has provided a positive update on the fitness of Alex Iwobi after the winger limped out of the Gunners 2-0 home win against Southampton at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday, reports Promptnewsonline.com.
The North London club have had to contend with their fair share of injury struggles over recent weeks.
It appeared as though two more bodies would be heading for the treatment table after a vital win over the Saints with Iwobi and veteran defender Stephan Lichtsteiner limping off in the game.
Iwobi was subbed off for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang 16 minutes from time after copping the injury.
He provided an assist in the game, which was his 14th in 89 Premier League games for the North London club.
“I hope it’s only one knock and not a more important injury. I hope he (Iwobi) can play Wednesday,”Emery told reporters.
“Lichtsteiner has back pain but I think he can also be okay for Wednesday.”
The Gunners will face Bournemouth in their next Premier League fixture on Wednesday.
