The Director-General of the National Sports Commission, Gbenga Elebeleye has said the current Nigeria U20 squad are world beaters and will form the core of the country’s team to the 2018 World Cup.
Elebeleye made this declaration when he visited the Flying Eagles training at the weekend.
“These Flying Eagles are world beaters. They have already conquered the world at U17 level and will do same at the U20 level,” predicted an impressed Elebeleye.
“I see many of these players being part of the 2018 World Cup in Russia.”
He again commended Flying Eagles coach and his team, restating his total confidence in them.
The Nigeria U20s will begin their qualifying campaign for the 2015 African Youth Championship next month.
The top sports chief has paid similar visits to the Nigeria women’s team, the Super Falcons, as well as the U15 team, who are all in training camp in Abuja.
