The Federal Government has declared Thursday and Friday, August 8 and 9 respectively as public holidays to mark Eid-el-Fitri celebration. This was contained in a statement issued on Monday and signed by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Interior, Fatima Bamidele, on behalf of the Minister of Interior, Abba Moro. The Minister called on Nigerian Muslims to use the spiritual benefits of Ramadan to contribute to the development of the nation. He also wished Nigerians a rewarding and peaceful celebration, even as he urged them to exploit the spiritual benefits of love, joy and peace in their day-to-day activities. The Minister enjoined them to use the opportunity of the holidays to reflect on the imperative of peace in nation building. |
