The Department of State Services on Sunday explained why it raided a building that the All Progressives Congress (APC) claimed is its membership data centre.
According to the spokesperson of DSS, Marilyn Ogar, a building located at 10, Bola Ajbola Street, Allen Avenue was raided following a petition it received alleging “unwholesome activities” there.
She said, some suspects have already been arrested in Lagos State for cloning the Permanent Voter Cards currently being issued around the country by the Independent National Electoral Commission.
Prompt News recalls that the APC had alleged on Saturday that its membership data office in Lagos was raided by a combined team of police and the Nigerian Army.
The DSS spokesperson however, insisted there was no sign post to indicate the building belongs to a party, adding that the known state office of the APC in Lagos State is on Acme Road.
Ogar’s statement justifying the raid, reads, “The petition alleged that those behind the activities were cloning INEC Permanent Voters Card with the intention of hacking into INEC data base, corrupting it and replacing them with their own data.
“Based on this information, the service placed the building under surveillance and having been convinced that some unwholesome activities were going on in the building, it undertook a raid of the premises.
“In the process, some persons were arrested, while a Server, three hard drive and 31 Ghana must go bags of hard copy document were recovered and taken away for further investigation”.
