The dust raised by the importation of Madagascar Covid-Organic solution into Nigeria has refused to settle down even as the West African Health Organisation (WAHO) has denied requesting for the products in the first place. Director General of WAHO, Professor Stanley Okolo washed his hands off the importation of Madagascar herbal products during the daily press briefing of the Presidential Task Force on Covid-19 Pandemic on Thursday in Abuja. According to him, “I have heard several talks about the importation of Madagascar Covid-Organic solution into West Africa. It has been said several times that we (WAHO) requested for them. This is not the case. I am glad that it has been explained that it was a gift to the West African countries”. Prof Okolo who was at the PTF briefing to give update on the activities of WAHO in the Covid-19 pandemic war disclosed that the organisation is on top of the efforts to find cure for the dreaded virus. He said that WAHO is working in collaboration with the World Health Organisation (WHO) other relevant agencies across the world and the Governments of the 16 countries in West Africa in the war against Covid-19 pandemic. Said he, “it is in this regards that all the 16 countries in West Africa are participating in the WHO-organised trial drugs programme which has been halted temporarily. Prof Okolo however said WAHO has not established why West African region has not recorded high Covid-19 cases.
