COVID-19 Violation: Anambra FA to be sanctioned, says Gusau

The Representative of States Football Association on the board of Football Federation, Ibrahim Gusau has revealed exclusively to Promptnews that any state FA election conducted without the approval of the NFF Board will not be part of congresses or meetings called by the football house.

Gusau who expressed displeasure over the impunity of some states FA to go against decision and orders of the football house, warned that very soon NFF will invoke its statues and apply appropriate sanctions to any erring state association.

“You are aware that NFF board banned all forms of football related activities including football of any form due to COVID-19 Pandemic.

“And also NFF has not lifted the ban as the board awaits decision of the Federal Government on sporting activities in the country. NFF will not accommodate any state FA deliberately flouting the orders of their states and federal government directives on protocols.

“For now as the Chairman of Chairmen on the board of NFF, States FA conducted without the supervision of the glass house will be declared no election and the board will not be recognized.

For FA election, Gusau described it as a sham which will never be recognized by the Football governing body.

“The same Electoral Committee issued a press statement on Monday, 27th July 2020 informing the general public that the would no longer hold, and regretted the inconvenience that the sudden postponement may have caused the candidates, delegates, observers, stakeholders and the general public.

“Anambra election was an affront on the Government and the NFF will never be part of it. The COVID-19 Task Force made it clear that there should be no such gathering. let it be said without ambiguity that the NFF does not recognize such a sham and it cannot stand,” Gusau declared.
