The Executive Chairman of Ezza South Local Government Area in Ebonyi State, Kenneth Eze has expressed optimism that the New Year 2021 will be better, urging Ebonyians and the general public to remain calm.
The Chairman posited that there is no cause for alarm despite the dwindled economic fortune of the country occasioned by the Covid-19 pandemic and the EndSARS protest in 2020 that is coming to an end.
Speaking during the yuletide in Abakaliki, Hon Ken maintained that 2020 is a miraculous year, adding that the tough time brought about by the pandemic was at the end conquered through fruitful celebrations.
He stressed that Year 2021 will not be as bad as expected and feared while he encouraged people to calm their fears and remain optimistic.
According to the Chairman; “2021 will not be as people expect in terms of Coronavirus and the lockdown. There is always a purpose for whatever happens and so, if God could see us through the challenges of this 2020, he will even do unexpectedly better for us coming year since He never fails and we thank God for our Governor, Engr David Umahi, who went extra mile to curtail the spread and for his magnanimity to put smile on Peoples’ faces with Christmas packages.
“So, I urge everyone to be calm and focused because there is no cause for alarm while we hope for the better.”
Prompt News reports that the State Chairman of Local Government Service Commission, Mrs Lilian Nwankwo also expressed similar optimism, saying:
“I don’t see any fear in 2021.The fear should have been in 2020 but we scaled through; we are all alive irrespective of the Coronavirus.
“The Governor took a very proactive measure to make sure that the virus was curbed in the state and in 2021, I am sure he will take more proactive steps to ensure that all our fears about Coronavirus will be a thing of the past.”
