An Ado-Ekiti Magistrates’ Court on Friday ordered the remand of a 30-year-old man, Folorunsho Falokun, at the Correctional Centre in Ado-Ekiti over alleged murder.
The defendant, whose address was not provided, is being tried for alleged murder.
The police prosecutor, Insp. Sodiq Adeniyi, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on Aug. 6 in Erinjiyan-Ekiti.
Adeniyi alleged that the suspect murdered Mrs Makinde Bosede.
He said the defendant was a labourer to the deceased, and they both went to her farm to harvest a bunch of bananas for sale, which the deceased sold for N100, 000.
He said the deceased was later pronounced dead after selling her bananas, while they later found the deceased purse and wrapper with the defendant.
According to him, the offence contravened Section 234 of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State 2021
The prosecutor urged the court to remand the defendant in the correctional centre pending legal advice from the office of Director of Public Prosecution (DPP).
The plea of the defendant was not taken.
The Magistrate, Mrs Dolapo Kay-Williams, ordered the remand of the defendant at the correctional centre, pending issuance of legal advice.
She adjourned the case untill Jan.30 for mention. (NAN)
