A Grade 1 Area Court in Kubwa, on Thursday, ordered Mr Mustapha Yahaya to pay his ex-wife, Zainab Bello, N30,000 monthly as maintenance allowance for the upkeep of their daughter and unborn baby.
The Judge, Ibrahim Rufai ordered Yahaya to pay the said sum until Bello delivers her baby, adding that the maintenance cost would be reviewed after she delivers her baby.
Rufai also ordered Yahaya to pay arrears of N90, 000 for maintenance allowance for the months of July, August and September with immediate effect.
Earlier, the plaintiff told the court that Yahaya divorced her sometime in May, 2023, leaving her with an eight month old pregnancy and a two-year-old daughter.
“The respondent initially agreed to pay N30, 000 monthly for maintenance but paid for only one month after our divorce and stopped,’’ she said.
The respondent however confirmed to the court that his ex-wife was pregnant when he divorced her, and said he had reached an agreement with her to pay N30, 000 monthly for maintenance. READ ALSO:
