Former Miss South Africa contestant, Chidinma Adetshina, has announced her participation in the Miss Universe Nigeria 2024 beauty pageant.
In a video message shared on X (formerly Twitter) by the founder of the Silverbird Group, Ben Murray-Bruce, on Wednesday, Adetshina expressed her gratitude to her supporters while sharing the news of her decision to compete for the coveted title.
“I cannot start this video without expressing my gratitude to the incredible people who have shown me so much love and so much support,” she said.
“I have received an invitation from the Silverbird group, who are the organisers of the Miss Universe Nigeria Beauty Pageant.
“I say this with great excitement because I have decided to participate in the Miss Universe Nigeria 2024 Beauty Pageant.”
The 23-year-old acknowledged the significant responsibilities associated with the title but expressed her eagerness to embark on this new chapter.
She added, “I understand the expectations and responsibilities that come with this title, and I am so excited to embark on this journey.
“I just want to say thank you so much for this opportunity, and I’m looking forward to participating in Africa’s most prestigious beauty pageant, Miss Universe Nigeria.”
In an official statement signed by the National Director of Miss Universe Nigeria, Guy Murray-Bruce, Adetshina was formally invited to compete in the forthcoming Miss Universe Nigeria 2024 pageant.
The invitation followed Adetshina’s withdrawal from the Miss South Africa pageant, triggered by significant backlash over questions regarding her nationality.
On 8th of August, Adetshina announced her decision to step down from the Miss South Africa competition, citing concerns for her family’s safety.
In light of this development, Miss Universe Nigeria extended support and encouragement to Adetshina.
