Two Chinese firms, China Great Wall Industry Corporation and China General Chamber of Commerce on Monday donated Covid-19 protective kits and masks to the Federal Ministry of Finance Budget and National Planning.

A statement by Yunusa Tanko Abdullahi, Special Adviser (Media & Communications) to the Minister of Finance, said the two companies made the donations as part of their corporate social responsibility (CSR) towards the fight against the scourge in Nigeria.

Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning, Mrs. Zainab Ahmed, received the items on behalf of the Ministry.

Presenting the items, Mr. Ye Shuijin, President of the China General Chamber of Commerce, said the organization is a representative of all Chinese companies in Nigeria.

According to him, the donation is their own contribution to the fight against Covid-19 in the country and to assure Nigerians and other investors of the effort of government to curb the pandemic.

Responding, Mrs. Ahmed commended the company and the Chinese government for its long standing partnership and friendship.

Minister said, “China has met Nigeria at a point of its needs and we are proud of our relationship with China and we are unapologetic about it”.

According to her, Nigeria and China are one family and “we want that to continue”, promising that the items would be judiciously deployed.

The items included personal protective equipment (PPE), facemasks, hand thermometers and thermal thermometers.
