Missing Girls 2

Nigerian military Tuesday dismissed reports being circulated regarding the purported release of the abducted Chibok girls, saying it is not true

Earlier, there were speculations that the Federal Government may have succeeded in negotiating the release of the abducted Chibok girls as some of them were said to have been sighted being driven in two coaster buses into Maimalari Barracks in Borno State.

But, Defence Headquarters in a tweet, said the individuals sighted in the buses were not the Chibok girls.

“The Story circulating in respect of release of the #Chibok girls is untrue.

“Buses drove into the barracks but conveyed other individuals,’ DHQ had tweeted.

On April 14, about 300 girls of Government Secondary School, Chibok, Borno State were abducted by the Boko Haram and have remained in captivity ever since.

Prompt News recalls that the insurgents have insisted that the girls would only be released in exchange for 18 of their top men being detained by security agencies.
