Apparently for her huge contributions to the development of women’s football in the continent, four-time CAF Women’s Player of the Year Award winner, Perpetua Nkwocha has been invited to attend the draw ceremony of the maiden TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Champions League set to hold on Wednesday, September 29, 2021 in Cairo, Egypt.
The former Super Falcons goalpoacher’s presence at the glamourous event was confirmed by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) on its website on Tuesday just as Nkwocha played for Nigerian Champions, Rivers Angels FC of Port Harcourt which will participate in the competition.
According to the information on the CAF website, other names expected to attend the draw include players Merihan Yehia and Alia Zenouki from the Egyptian club Wadi Degla FC.
The Nigeria striker, Nkwocha, won six TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (2000, 2002, 2004, 2006, 2010, and 2014) with the Super Falcons and ended up top scorer at three editions in 2004, 2006, and 2010 of the competition.
She is a four-time winner of the award of the African Women’s Player of the Year (2004, 2005, 2010, 2011) and also has a book on her name titled: African Football Living Legend: The Perpetua Nkwocha Story, published in 2012 by Harry Awurumibe, who is also the author of Genesis of Women’s Football in Nigeria (1991).
The draw will be conducted by the CAF Director of Competitions, Samson Adamu who will be assisted by the invitees to draw the lots
