The Professional Football Department of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) is organising a Club Licensing continental seminar in Cairo, Egypt from Wednesday to Friday.
The seminar, an annual event, will see CAF launching several new regulations, an online platform and projects related to club licensing, stadiums and professionalisation of club football in Africa.
The participants and guests are expected to include members of the CAF Executive Committee, the confederation’s Organising Committees and 54 Member-Associations (MAs).
The rest will be from zonal unions, FIFA and sister confederations, FIFPRO Africa, Club Licensing Seminar Instructors and others.
Speaking ahead of the seminar, Head of CAF Professional Football Department, Muhammad Sidat, said: “This continental seminar is going to be an important landmark moment for CAF.
“During the event, we plan to engage with the CAF MAs and launch the new CAF Club Licensing System and stadiums regulatory framework, in addition to the CAF Club Licensing Online Platform.
“We have very high expectations from this seminar, and we hope that the participants can take out the most of the platform.”
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the seminar’s agenda shows that participants will look at the 2022 edition of the CAF Club Licensing Regulatory framework on Wednesday.
Thereafter, there will be the launching of the CAF Club Licensing Online Platform (CLOP), to be followed by a training session on the platform.
Thursday will see participants involved in another training session on CLOP, while a CAF Club Licensing Roundtable to be taken by FIFA and Confederation officials will follow.
Sidat will address participants on “Overdue payables”, ahead of a lecture on club licensing external audit and spot checks.
FIFA and Confederation officials will later handle a breakout session on “professional football and club licensing”.
The final day of the seminar will see the participants returning to the CAF Stadium Regulatory Framework and a session on Stadium Pre-inspection Guidelines.
A final training session on CLOP will end with the Stadium Inspection Module, while a practical session will round off the seminar with an inspection of the 30 June Stadium in Cairo.(NAN)
