Minister of Sports and Youth Development, Sunday Dare has said that President Muhammadu Buhari will host the sportsmen and women who did the country proud at international competitions recently.
Dare who addressed the State House Press Corps in Abuja on Wednesday in the company of Information minister, Lai Mohammed and Works Housing minister, Babatunde Fashola after the weekly Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting, disclosed that his ministry has sent a memorandum to the President to host the country’s contingent to the the last All Africa Games in Morocco.
He also said that members of Nigeria’s senior men and women’s basketball teams, D’ Tigers and D’ Tigresses who were victorious in their recent outings in Africa and at world level will be received in audience by President Buhari very soon.
The Sports minister said he briefed FEC on the development in his ministry including the performances of the Nigerian athletes since his assumption of office, adding that he has requested the President to host the contingents and as soon as the approval is granted those involved will be informed accordingly.
“The ministry has made a request for Mr. President to host our All Africa Games contingent and two basketball teams that did Nigeria proud recently. I mean D’Tigers and D’ Tigresses. As soon as a date is confirmed Mr. President will host the delegatons”, the minister said.
