As the inauguration of the 10th National Assembly draws closer, the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) may have a smooth ride getting Tajudeen Abbas elected as the Speaker of the 10th House of Representatives.
This is because top contenders – Aliyu Betara and Yusuf Gagdi, have agreed to step down following a meeting with President Tinubu and Vice President Shettima, Sunday evening.
Mr. Bayo Onanuga, spokesperson for the defunct Tinubu/Shettima presidential campaign organization confirmed this via his twitter handle @aonanuga1956
“BREAKING: Aliyu Betara and Yusuf Gagdi, aspirants for the House of Representatives speakership have agreed to step down for Tajudeen Abbas after a meeting with President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima. Vice President Kashim Shettima reports the agreement,” Onanuga tweeted
Prompt News reports that the leadership of the APC recently endorsed Tajudeen Abbas for the position of Speaker and Benjamin Kalu as Deputy Speaker.
