BREAKING NEWS: Tribunal adjourns Saraki’s trial to Nov 5

By Olusegun Lawrence                The Code of Conduct tribunal sitting in , has adjourned the trial of the , Bukola Saraki to November 5th and 6th of 2015.

Justice Danladi Umar, chairman of the Tribunal on Wednesday said he would await the outcome of the Court of Appeal on matter of jurisdiction.

Mr. Saraki, is facing a 13-count charge bordering on alleged corruption and false declaration of assets, had approached the Appellate Court to challenge jurisdiction of the Code of Conduct Tribunal to try him.

He has also asked the Court of Appeal to rule that the Tribunal is not competent to go ahead with the trial since it has only two members now instead of three.

When he was docked by the Tribunal on September 22, Mr. Saraki had pleaded not guilty.

No fewer than 80 Senators were at the Tribunal on Wednesday to show solidarity with Mr. Saraki.

The Senate had on Tuesday adjourned plenary to Thursday, obviously to enable Senators to be present at Mr Saraki’s trial at the Tribunal and to show solidarity with him.
