By Wole Oye, ABUJA – The preferred candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, has emerged the Deputy Senate President of the 9th National Assembly.
He defeated his only rival, Senator Ike Ekweremadu of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
Omo-Agege was nominated by Senator-Elect Baba Keita from Katsina State and seconded by Sabi Abdullahi APC Niger.
Senator Chukwuka Utazi, PDP Enugu, nominated Ekweremadu, seconded by PDP’s Rose Okoh PDP Cross River.
