Squirrels of Benin Republic head coach Michel Dussuyer has named Plateau United defender Salomon Junior in his 23-man squad for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.
Salomon, a former Bayelsa United defender and captain, has been a mainstay in the Plateau United team since he joined the Jos side in 2016.
The 33-year-old Salomon played for ASPAC Cotonou, Asec Mimosas of Abidjan, Union Sportive Seme Krake of Porto Novo before arriving in Nigeria to join Bayelsa United in 2013.
Dussuyer released his squad for the competition on Tuesday night.
Huddersfield Town forward Serve Mounie is the biggest name in the squad with veteran midfielder Stephane Sessegnon who plays for Turkish side Genclerbilgi and Hansa Rostok of Germany star Soukou Cebio also among those invited.
The West Africans are in Group F along with Cameroon, Ghana and Guinea Bissau.
Salomon Junior will look to get playing time and help Benin Republic make impact, as underdogs, at AFCON 2019.
Dussuyer’s men will take on the Black Stars of Ghana in their first AFCON 2019 game on June 25.
