Former Governor of Bayelsa State, Timipre Sylva, has won the All Progressives Congress (APC) primaries ahead of the December 5 governorship election in the state.
He won the rescheduled primaries held on Wednesday, polling 981 votes to emerge the APC flag bearer.
The primaries held at the state secretariat of the party in Yenagoa, were peaceful and presided over by a seven-member Electoral Panel headed by Brig-Gen. Mansur Dan Ali (rtd).
Sequel to the withdrawal of his arch rival and former NDDC Boss, Ndutimi Alaibe from the race, Mr. Sylva defeated Godknows Powell, who scored 39 votes.
Also, a former two-time member of the House of Representatives, Warman Ogoriba scored 28 votes; Diekivie Ikiogha, 22; Ebite Williams 9; Charity Valdego 7; Preye Aganaba 8 and Febo Austin 7.
Others results are: Romeo Dekeye 10 votes; Ebitimi Amgbare 3; Ambassador Otiotio 1, Felix Oboro 1 and Christopher Enai 2.
Reacting, Mr. Sylva expressed delight at his victory, calling on all party members in the state to close ranks ahead of the big battle on December 5, 2015.
