By: Gracious Akujobi Oscar Palacios, an international football scout for Aspire Football Dreams has sent a passionate appeal to notable well-to-do Nigerians to encourage young promising football talents to improve.
The Spaniard made the call in Lokoja on Saturday during a scouting exercise for young players of under-13.
Oscar believes Africa and most importantly Nigeria have great pool of potentials and promising players that could become big professional stars in future.
He also harped on the support of individuals, organisations and government at all levels in provision of playing kits, boots and pitches in aid to the discovery of talents.
According to Oscar, “Africa has great young talents – there is good quality here but only lack material and mental support – Aspire Africa Football Dreams is aware of the trend in Africa, importantly in Nigeria for and intends to help the young talents here improve into becoming professional.
“The players just need basic infrastructure and amenities to improve on the playing ability and potentials – we hope to return next year to get more players,” he admonished.
Similarly, the Councillo and Senior Special Adviser on Sports, Mr Rotimi Obalaja and Moses Bako to the Local Government Area Council respectively have said that the current administration chaired by Aliyu Baba Usman will continued to make the development of grassroots sports at topmost priority.
Mr. Rotimi insisted that the intentions of the current administration are focused at “reviving grassroot football and general sports in view of breeding and establishing future stars.”
Same way, Mr. Moses who is the Proprietor of Bako Football Club expressed huge confidence in the sincerity of Council determination to help sports talents secure a future, stressing that the efforts are on to create more competitions to engage young stars.
At least a hundred young players made the Aspire Africa Football Dreams scouting exercise on Saturday in Lokoja. Prompt News Online reports that the Worldwide Football Scouting agency has a hundred of centres in Nigeria. The agency recommends 50 players for the final in Lagos later on August 26 where the best three will be picked and transferred to Senegal.
