Chief Jude Emecheta, National Coordinator of Anambra Demands Soludo (ADS), says the emergence of candidates of Southern Senatorial District in all the political parties for the Anambra governorship election is victory for democracy.
Emecheta, a Chieftain of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in Anambra, said this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Awka on Wednesday.
He said that it was a good thing that the parties respected the spirit of zoning, equity and fairness in the political leadership of the state.
The APGA chieftain said it was up to the Anambra electorate to choose the best among the candidates.
“As a stakeholder in Anambra South, the joy is that all political parties in Anambra picked their candidates from the zone.
“It is now up to Anambra to vote for the best and Soludo is the best in the pack,” he said.
Emecheta said although there was a crisis in APGA, he was certain the issues would be addressed before campaigns would begin.
He said there was nothing extraordinary in APGA crisis as the situation was not peculiar to the party alone.
“In every political environment, there is bound to be a crisis; there is a crisis in APGA and nobody can run away from it, that is why a committee was set up.
“I must commend the moves the party has made so far toward resolving it.
“Before campaigns start, I am sure the party would have resolved all issues and be clear about who is our candidate,” he said.
The Advertising expert called on APGA faithful to embrace peace and support Prof. Chukwuma Soludo candidacy in the interest of Anambra.
He described Soludo as a change agent who the people needed at this time of their history, adding, “Soludo has seen it all at the world stage and he wants to bring positive change to Anambra.
“To some, he is an ocean liner so what is he coming to do in a river?
“What is going on is because of fear or jealousy among only the elite, Soludo is the governor Anambra needs now.
“Nobody should be scared of him, those who think they are popular should go and test with him at the polls,” he said.
APGA is presently in various courts over which is the authentic leadership of the party as well as who its candidate for Nov. 6, governorship election is.(NAN)
