The kidnapped member of the Anambra State House of Assembly, Hon. Justice Azuka, has been found dead.
Azuka, who represented the Labour Party (LP), was abducted on December 24, 2024, while traveling along Ugwunabakpa Road in Inland Town, Onitsha, on his way home.
A joint security team discovered his decomposed body near the 2nd Niger Bridge in the early hours of Thursday.
Confirming the sad development, the Police Public Relations Officer for Anambra State, Tochukwu Ikenga, said, “In the early hours of February 6, 2025, a joint security team consisting of the Police and AVG operatives, on a mission to rescue Hon. Azuka, tragically found his lifeless body at the location.”
Ikenga assured the public that an investigation is underway and promised to provide updates as efforts continue to apprehend those responsible for the crime.
The police revealed that several suspects had already been arrested, and these individuals led the security team to the location where Azuka’s body had been abandoned.
Prompt News reports that authorities are ramping up efforts to ensure justice is served and to prevent further violence in the state.
