Benue State Governor, Hyacinth Iormem Alia, has expressed deep sorrow over a tragic accident in the Okete community of Ohimini Local Government Area, which claimed the lives of at least ten people.
The accident, which occurred on Thursday morning along the Otukpo/Oweto Expressway, involved a truck crashing into a building.
Several others were injured in the incident, which has left the community in mourning.
In a statement released by his media aide, Tersoo Kula, Governor Alia conveyed heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims, the people of Ohimini, and the local government chairman.
“With a heavy heart, I extend my deepest sympathies to the families affected by the devastating accident in the Okete community,” Governor Alia said. “The loss of ten precious lives in such a tragic manner is a heartbreaking event that has cast a shadow of grief over our state.”
The governor assured the bereaved families of the government’s solidarity during this trying time, promising support to help them cope with their loss.
He also pledged to ensure a thorough investigation into the incident to identify its causes and implement measures to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
