Akwa United boss cautioned over unguarded utterances

The Football Club Owners Association of Nigeria (Club Owners) has cautioned the chairman of Akwa United FC Elder Paul Bassey to desist from his unguarded utterances in the Media disparaging the image of the Association of which he is a member.
The warning contained in a press statement issued by the Executive Secretary of the Association, Alloy Chukwuemeka, came on the heels of several unwarranted comments attributed to him where he described the voting process conducted by eminent and esteemed members of the club Owners as a ‘skewed process ‘.
Mr Bassey and the Management of Akwa United FC had also through their Media officer thrown aspersions, unfair and misleading criticism against the leadership of the club Owners, other NPFL participating clubs and by extension to the League Management Company LMC thereby bringing the Association, its activities and indeed the NPFL to disrepute.
“We  wish to remind Mr Bassey to see himself as an Elder , the title he bears,  by exploring the constitutionally approved channels of communication in the Football system and the rules and regulations to ventilate whatever grievances he has, if any, instead of making negative, wild and unfair comments in the media against the entire system he belongs to as a person and as a club.
“The Association will not be derailed by emotional interest of an individual’s choice against the majority interest of members which we are on oath to protect, and as a responsible and responsive leadership we will not shy away from applying the relevant measures in accordance  with the framework and rules when the need arises.”
