Within the framework of the China-Africa cooperation, the African Union Commission (AUC), in collaboration with the Addis Ababa Confucius institute and the Embassy of China in Ethiopia officially launched on 19 June 2013, the Chinese language programs.
The ceremony took place at the headquarters of the AU in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, in the presence of Rekia Mahamoudou, Acting Head of Administration and Human Resources Management, African Union Commission (AUC), some AUC staff and Chinese officials.
Mrs. Mahamoudou commended the initiative and thanked the Chinese officials for providing the language class which will help to facilitate cultural interaction with China.
According to the representative of the Chinese Confucius institute, launching the Chinese language programs to the AUC is very significant as it will open new windows for Africans to learn and know the Chinese culture.
A film on the history and socio-economic growth of the Chinese people was projected to the participants.
