The President of Nigeria Volleyball Federation (NVBF), Musa Nimrod, on Saturday charged the National U-21 Men’s Volleyball team to defeat Egypt in their Semi final match of the ongoing 2022 Championship in Tunisia
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports the Nigerians will face Egypt in the semi final in the championship in Tunis.
They defeated Libya 3-2 in the quarter final on Friday to secure a place to play the semi finals.
The president said there was no doubt that the boys would book a ticket for the 2023 World Cup.
” I watched their match yesterday against Libya and I saw that the players exhibited a high level of resilience on the court .
“The federation and Nigerians are proud of their efforts; for them to qualify for the semi final match is due to good preparation and hard work,” he said.
He commended the coaching crew for the outcome of their matches played so far in the competition.
“The coaching crew showed their tactical abilities in all their games, and the boys played to instructions which yielded good results for them.
“Now I charge the players to go out with determination in their semifinal match against Egypt.
“I believe they will make us proud in the match.
“The Federation of International Volleyball (FIVB) U-21 Men’s ticket is in your hands and the Federation will give you the necessary support when you secure the ticket,” he said.
NAN reports that the team won matches in the stage group, defeating Morocco 3-0 in their first match and beat Gambia 3-0 in their second match .
They lost in the third match against the hosts Tunisia 0-3 and defeated Libya in the quarter-finals on Friday.
NAN reports that eight countries, Morocco, Nigeria, Gambia, Egypt, Cameroon, Rwanda, Libya and the host Tunisia are participating in the Championships.
NAN reports that the 2022 Under 21 African Volleyball championship started on Aug.13 and expected to end on 23 in Tunis, Tunisia. (NAN)
