Ibrahim Abdul, the President, Nigeria Weightlifting Federation (NWF), on Tuesday in Abuja commended the country’s weightlifters for winning the highest medals at the ongoing 13th African Games.
Abdul told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that Nigeria’s Weightlifting team had an excellent performance in their in Accra, Ghana.
The president, who congratulated the athletes for doing well at the Games added that Nigerians are proud of their performance.
“I thank the coaches for their relentless efforts in seeing that we achieved this good record.
“I equally thank the lifters for believing in themselves and giving us this good results,” he said.
Abdul also praised the Minister of Sports Development, Sen. John Owan- Enoh for supporting the athletes before and during the games.
“We appreciate the minister and the Ministry for the great work they have done by ensuring that the athletes are well taken care of,” he said.

NAN reports that Nigeria’s Weightlifting team won a total of 32 medals comprising 16 gold, 10 silver and 6 bronze.
The 13th African Games which started on March 8 in Accra, Ghana is expected to end on March 23. (NAN)
