Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Fintiri, has indefinitely suspended the Emir of Daware, Alhaji Hassan Ja’afaru, over allegations of corruption and maladministration.
Ja’afaru, who previously served as the district head of Daware in Fufore Local Government Area, was investigated and found guilty of corruption, breach of security, and other misconduct.
In a letter dated April 25, 2025, and signed by the Permanent Secretary of Chieftaincy Affairs, Adama Mamman, the emir was directed to hand over all government property in his possession to the secretary of the district.
The letter, made available to PUNCH Online on Sunday, cited several complaints against Ja’afaru, including confiscation of farmlands and failure to attend to traditional matters due to his prolonged absence from his domain.
Part of the letter stated, “Following a series of complaints made against you for maladministration, corruption, breach of security, confiscation of farmlands, and creating a vacuum that has led to all traditional issues remaining unattended, as a result of your non-staying in your domain, I am therefore directed by the Executive Governor of Adamawa State, Ahmadu Fintiri, to suspend you from office indefinitely.”
The letter added that Ja’afaru must hand over all government property pending further actions.
Governor Fintiri has repeatedly emphasized that his administration’s anti-corruption drive would cut across all sectors in the state.
